I am a Singaporean who is now based in Taiwan. Speaking from experience, all your praises about Singapore public housing is definitely not true. To begin with, Singapore's public housing is pathetically small and a small 4 room flat could cost up to $300k SGD. And the 'best' part is that the flat is not yours; it is only on a land lease for 99 years.

$300k SGD can easily buy you a very nice terrace house on freehold land in Taiwan. But we get in Singapore for the same amount of money is a 99 year old pigeon hold. Do you think that make any money sense?

Therefore, I urge that you guys to do more on the ground research on Singapore public housing policy, before coming to conclusion that Singaporeans enjoy good and cheap public housing. To know more please read this article:

Actually, there's no more article.
I'm a Taiwanese who's really want to know more countries about their social housing policy.
You can't compare the housing policy between Singapore and Taiwan. And also, there's more implicit factors in the real estate.
